Chantel My Bell

In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.  It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.  We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.  ~Albert Schweitzer

Today was just one of those days.  Actually, it’s been one of those days for a few weeks now.  Do you ever just not feel like yourself? or like you’re in a funk? Well, that’s how I’ve felt lately and just feeling that way made me feel even farther from who I am. Today was different.  I was tired of this so-called “funk” and wanted to get out of the house and do something… anything! This got me to thinking, what do I want to do? It’s awesome outside and just sitting on the backporch with a cold adult beverage, music, and friends sounds amazing! I could only think of one person who I wanted to spend the day with, my best friend, Chantel. As plans were arranged, I went over to her house and we did exactly what I needed. We sat on the backporch, drank adult beverages with music playing, and we just talked. My other mama as I call her, Carol, was also there to play with us and laugh with us.  It was exactly what I needed. Friends are blessings. I know Chantel didn’t even realize it while I was there, but she saved me from my “funk” today, and I love her for it. I drove home happy, smiling, and also belting out to some Taylor Swift (I’m not ashamed). Basically, what I realized today is that best friends are just that, the best. So, thank you Chantel Elizabeth Logan for being my best friend and continually saving me, even when you don’t know you’re doing it. You’re my person.  I love you to the moon and back.
