“I can see clearly now, the rain is gone…” That song has been stuck in my head all day. But really, I can! I had Lasik today. After coming home and sleeping for a few hours, as they told me to do, I can read things I couldn’t read before without my contacts/glasses! My Mom had to drive me home and I kept saying “Mom, I can read that sign!” and that was only about an hour after the surgery. So, it seems it was a success!! YAY! The surgery was short and sweet, and a little awkward feeling, but well worth it. Mom got to watch the whole thing on a screen outside the room, I wish she could’ve videoed it, but there was a sign saying it wasn’t allowed, Boo. I’ve wanted to have Lasik for a few years now, and I’m so happy to have finally had it done and no longer be dependent on glasses/contacts. So, thank you MOM! Best graduation gift ever! :)
My flower beds are looking pretty sad. Today I finally got out there and started weeding the grass that has creeped its way into the beds, and as I did I kept finding bigger and bigger ant piles underneath the hedging rocks. Ugh!!! I thought I’d killed them all last year, but apparently they’re back. So I put some ant killer out… We shall see what happens. Anyways, as I’m lifting these rocks and pulling up the grass that has grown in between them I almost grabbed my worst nightmare, a snake!! eeeeeek! Sure, it was a baby snake and probably a harmless grass snake that was probably only 3 inches long, but it was a snake and I’m terrified! Now I know why they make gloves to garden with, and you better believe I put them on before finishing, and after killing the snake. I’m getting chill bumps just thinking about it because where there is one baby snake, there is probably more… and where there are more— there’s probably a big mama snake that I don’t want to meet! I mean come on, I live in the city! Snakes aren’t supposed to be here. I grew up in the country so I know they’re around there, but I guess I just didn’t expect to lift up a rock and see a snake… and I sure hope it’s the last one I see.
I’ve been a poor college girl for a long time now and as my mother would tell me: I have champagne taste in a beer glass. I want big, pretty, colorful and more than likely expensive flowers and such. Since I haven’t been able to afford that, I’ve had to look at ugly beds that are in need of a good green thumb, but I’m tired of looking at them so hopefully soon I can have the pretty flower beds I want…. Or just make it look nice enough for now and sell this place and move to a more rural area and start fresh… but that’s a whole different topic.
Here is the step stool I made for my nephew, Jonas…
I’m not crafty. I want to be, but it’s just never really happened for me. I’ve always felt like I don’t have a crafty/creative bone in my body, but I think I just need some guidance. Stumbleupon has sent me to all kinds of DIY pages that have me just itching to get crafty, so I am going to attempt it… Here are my first little projects.
I spray painted the trim pink and put the two little flowers on with hot glue… Not that difficult, but hey… I’m a novice, give me a break. :)
My next little project was this little bird (I love bird decor)… All I did was spray paint it pink and I love it!
I’m currently working on a step stool project for Jonas to use in the bathroom so he can reach the sink. I hope it turns out as cute as it did in my head… Pictures to come.
I bought all of my supplies for these projects at Hobby Lobby, which was fun because I’ve never looked in the craft sections, just the home interior, flowers, etc. I was in the craft section for 2 hours easy! So fun! My next adventure will be antique and junk stores to explore!
Like I stated in an earlier blog, my nephew is my world… and since I’m missing him right now, I decided to post some pictures of the two of us together! :) Here they are…
